Mixed Media ... I love you
Frolicking Fish in the Sea by ~HeatherSaulsbury on deviantART
I recently just discovered the joy of mixed media with my paintings. I am not really sure why I hadn't attempted before now. I was with my son at Barnes and Noble and I was drooling over the craft magazines when I came across Cloth Paper Scissors. It had this delightful front page full of color and ideas. I grabbed the magazine to feast my eyes and came across an article on putting resin on your paintings. I had attempted this before but thought some directions might be a good idea. I purchased the magazine and started to explore it at home. It was FULL of wonderful creations and I was inspired. It seem to say, there are no rules so do what you want. This painting was my second attempt. It was an a original acrylic that I didn't love but I liked it so I thought I would attempt to do something more with it. I was going to do some journal writing and cartoon images but when I got it down to my space a whole other image was created. I loved it. I used paper, cloth, findings, washers, glitter and yarn. I then covered the whole thing with decoupage glue. The painting was a huge hit and has found a new home. It also inspired me to go bigger so I am currently working on a 2ft by 4ft mixed media piece.

Hot Night Tree with Moon by ~HeatherSaulsbury on deviantART
I just got some of my artwork back from Harry and he did a wonderful job of documenting them. I love this image but I thought the original needed a little bit more so I added this wonderful full moon.

Just got the lumber for my first display of Artwork
I am so excited about my upcoming booth. I got contacted via my website to participate in an upcoming festival in Stanwood and it will be the first time I am around with my art. I have my work on display in a couple of different places but I am not there when people look at it so I am nervous and excited. My husband is going to help me put the booth together and I am trying to create something attractive but functional so I can still move it. So far my idea is to create the walls in 2 foot panel that hinge together. We will see how the idea comes together

Believe in Yourself! Inpirational Image
©heathersaulsbury
I originally painted this image with acrylics. I had a very special relative in mind when I created this painting and we named it "Heather's Lagoon". I enjoyed the bold colors and the scene so I transformed it with one of my art programs and created this inspirational background for my computer
